10:08 am - Proud Mommy (and daddy ) So we had the meeting with Nick's school about his IEP for next year. I had to comment on just how proud of my little boy I am right now!
Seriously I couldn't be happier
First off all, his speech not only caught up but he scored above average on many areas. And at 90 out of 100 for an area where they normally test 6-10 year olds (Go Nick!! ) His Speech therapist is on mat. leave and her replacement thought he was a peer model her first time in the classroom!
His goals are goals for your average kindergartner, learn to write his name learn to read his name, learn letters and to copy writting... the only area he really needs help is social communication so he has a few goals about that, cooperative play and initiating play being one of those.
He will be in a mainstream classroom next year with 60 minutes of help from a special ED teacher which may decrease after he gets into his new routine :D They reccomended starting him at half day kindergarten but there is no bus in the middle of the day :( so we may be forced to do all day which will be tough.
He'll be the youngest in his class, he'll be 4 when he starts that makes me nervous. they said if he repeats (which is a strong possibility ) than the following year we'll send him to all day kindergarten.
As for the Autism Diagnosis, we were explained why he got Autism versus PDD and it makes sense, basically he meets all of the main criteria for Autism to a mild degree many at the minimum (the social at a higher rate ) where a PDD child may have some of the criteria often to a higher degree than Nick has it... his school psych said that he does better than most kids with a PDD diagnosis do depending on where they are at. So end of the day I'm comfortable with everything.
Love his school principle, she very obviously was advocating for Mr. Nick so that makes me feel he'll be in a very good environment next year!

02:50 pm - I shouldn't be taking the time to write this... But I'm going to. I need a brain break work is scary busy and it won't be letting up through the next few months (if ever ) we're over capacity already for Jan and Feb and than March is close too but yet we're still expected to get it all done.
Anyways i'm beyond frustrated with myself. I have no motivation to do anything especially my weightloss stuff which doesn't change how badly I need for that loss to occur. I don't know what to do to motivate myself. I'm so upset with myself words can't fully describe it.

08:58 am - Can't stop the Cops So Nick really wanted to go to Applebees last night. He asked and I managed to convince him to go to O'Charleys (closer to Target where I needed to go )
So I try to avoid eating out with them but when they specifically ask I usually oblige with a speech about sitting still before hand. So when I'm taking Justin out of his carseat to go in Justin says "no applebees, no sit still" I convnice Nick to get fries to bring home through drive through (he wanted fries and a baked potato LOL ) so we're good finally since I wasn't willing to take in a child who does not want to eat out to sit down resteraunt thats a diaster waiting to happen... and I was secretely glad as eating out with the boys isn't much fun at all.
Well standing next to me is a police officer who wants to meet his family for dinner he hears my exchage with the boys and probobally my desperation to talk Nick out of eating out and lets out a chuckle because Justin was adamantly repeating how he doesn't want to sit still while Nick was babbling about fries and baked potatoes and I was trying to convince Nick to get drive through to take home.
This drew attention to him as he laughed... Nick yells a police officer all excitedely while Justin says "A cop" than he starts singing the can't stop the cops song from backyardigans.

08:51 am - Autism Walk I am going to be participating in a walk for Autism Awarness!
For those that don't know this is a topic near and dear to my heart. My oldest son is diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder (SPD) there is talk in the psychology world of moving SPD to the Autism Spectrum. Weather that technically happens or not a large percentage of people with Autism have some form of sensory issues and any research in that area can be agreat service to Nick and our family unit as a whole.
Therefore if anyone is interested in donating let me know and I'll write you down.
Thanks, for reading this and even if you can't donate if you look at the website it will provide some great information about Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders

10:58 am - He's growing up... So I just called a maritial arts place out here. They have this program called little Dragons and Nick needs to be involved in something structured like that since pre=school. I set up the free consultation and he'd get a month free to go. I'm really excited about it... I haven't talked to Karl yet though we're having lunch together so if he agrees... although I may need to find a different place since the timing for this place is kind of inconvient... 7 would be much better than 6.
